Avenler

Electrical installation quotation maker

In Avenler the quotation starts from the bill of quantities of the electrical drawing: items come from the catalogue, labour is calculated from the standard labour time and the hourly labour rate, rounded line by line, and VAT from the net total. The quotation can be divided into sections, extended with manual lines and printed together with the drawing sheets.

Where does the quotation come from?

In Avenler the quotation starts from the drawing. The To quotation button of the bill of quantities puts the lines into a new or existing quotation; lines that come from the drawing show a “from drawing” badge. If the drawing changes, the Update from drawing button in the quotation editor recalculates the quantities. Recalculation only updates the quantity: it leaves manually overridden lines alone (“overridden” badge), and the Reset button restores the value calculated from the drawing.

How is the price calculated?

  • Quotation details: title, hourly labour rate (Ft/hour), VAT (%) and the description of the work.
  • Labour unit price = standard labour time × hourly labour rate.
  • Material and labour cost = quantity × unit price, rounded line by line to whole forints, and time line by line to whole hours.
  • Section totals and the grand total are the sum of the already rounded lines; VAT is calculated from the net total.
  • Lines keep the catalogue data from when they were added: later changes to the catalogue do not overwrite them.

The calculation runs on the server, in a single place, so the editor and the printed quotation show the same total.

Editing the quotation

The quotation can be divided into sections (add, rename, reorder, delete). You choose lines from the catalogue (search) or add them manually; the quantity, material unit price and standard labour time can be edited, and lines can be moved up and down. A quotation does not have to be built only from the drawing: any work can be added with manual lines.

The print view provides a cover page, a summary (material cost, labour, time, net, VAT, gross) and tables per section. With the Floor plan at the end of the quotation switch, the drawing sheets can be attached too. The contractor's details come from the company details in the Profile, and the PDF is made with the browser's Print / Save as PDF command.

The catalogue: items and prices

The quotation's items come from the catalogue: item number, text, unit, material unit price, standard labour time. The shared items are managed by the administrator; you can set your own price by adding your own item with the same item number, which overrides the shared one in your quotations. The catalogue can be imported from a CSV or XLSX file (at most 5 MB, in three steps: file, columns, check; if the check finds an error, nothing is saved), and exported to XLSX.

What it cannot do, and what to watch out for

The quotation total depends on the catalogue's unit prices and standard labour times: you (or the administrator) are responsible for their accuracy, and the program does not update them by itself. The quotation calculates quantities based on the drawing; it does not replace a site survey, and the take-off only sees what is on the saved drawing. Calculations and checks are indicative; they do not replace the professional responsibility of the electrical designer.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to the quotation if the drawing changes?

The Update from drawing button recalculates the quantities. Recalculation leaves manually overridden lines alone; the Reset button restores the value calculated from the drawing.

How can I set my own prices?

Add your own item in the catalogue with the same item number: in your quotations it overrides the shared item. The catalogue can also be imported from a CSV or XLSX file.

Can the floor plan be attached to the quotation?

Yes: the Floor plan at the end of the quotation switch in the print view attaches the drawing sheets with a short title block. The PDF is saved from the browser's print dialog.
